Lapsteel

Lapsteel WEISSENBORN Acoustic Lapsteel pickup tips

For amplification and recording, almost all the players interviewed use the SUNRISE soundhole pickup (Sunrise Pickup Systems, 8101 Orion Ave. #19, Van Nuys, CA 91406). Much of the Sunrises mystique follows David Lindleys sound and his declaration, "Its got magic stuff in it!" Manufacturer Jim Kaufman identifies the Sunrises "magic stuff" as its quick response, sonic imaging, pole pieces that make an audible difference when adjusted, and ability to move with the guitars top. For microphones, Lindley and Harper favor vintage tube mikes like the AKG C-12 and M-50, while other players mention high-end Neumanns, like the U-67 and U-87. For live performances, Bob Brozman mixes a Sunrise with workhorse Shure SM-57 mikes "because thats what everybody has, so I adapt." .

The slotted headstock is overlaid with engraved pearloid and comes standard with Waverly, three-on-a-plate tuners. This limited edition instrument will be accompanied by an official letter of Authenticity certifying it as one of the one hundred instruments that will be built. " The Don re-issue is a very special National resonator. The tone of the authentic German Silver body has the mellow edge like the 1920s Nationals This is a wonderful reproduction of the 1934 style 1. National Duolian 1931

12 fret neck.Straight F-holes.Coverplate with hooks instead of screws (only made in 1931 to early 1932). Original bar frets on the original black dyed ebonized maple fingerboard. Original bisquit, stamped with National. Legendary sound! Hardcase. Dates of manufacture: 1931 to 1940 NATIONAL manufactured the DUOLIAN between 1931 and 1940. The Duolian was a metal bodied single cone resonator guitar. The body was made of steel with two f-holes (flat cut until 1933 and then with rolled edges from 1933-1940). The necks were mahogany or maple with an unbound dyed (ebonized) maple fretboard and pearl or ivoriod dots. Early models had 19 frets and joined the body at the 12th fret. From 1934 onwards they had 20 fret necks which joined the body at the 14th fret. The headstocks were slotted with classical style tuners (3 on a plate). The steel bodies were typically finished with "frosted Duco" crystalline paint finish. The Duolian has gained a reputation for classic blues tone: it was favoured by the early blues players due in part to its compact but loud body.. . Sold

National NRP 12 fret B Series.Black Rust. NEW.

With slimline National pickup. "The original Duolian arrived in 1930 as National’s basic steel-bodied, single-cone guitar and soon became famous for its musical sound. Our NRP B Series replicates the vintage Duolian — and these modern reissues surpass most old ones in quality, playability, and even tone. The thin-gauge steel body is period-correct, featuring flat-cut f-holes, traditional sieve resonator coverplate, and a formed back. Still, no two NRP guitars are alike: The bodies are finished with a multi-stage, hand-textured finish for an individual look and semi-smooth surface profile that emulates the original Duolians. The mahogany neck with truss rod is capped by an unbound ebony fretboard complete with mother-of-pearl position markers. Vintage-style plain tuners, ebony nut, and “National” stamped into the slotted headstock complete the look of this classic. But it’s the trademark sound that makes these guitars so special — almost like a ghostly evocation of the best vintage 1930s Duolian. The sound is powerful and loud, while still being deep and warm. Like the hallowed originals, the NRP is steeped in mojo." The B-Series Black Rust NRP is sure to draw attention! OHC . Vg+ condition. Sold
