National Islander Deluxe. 1991.Ex+ condition! Very rare!
The Islander features rounded edges identical to vintage style O and Triolian/Duolian guitars.The finish is inspired by Nationals various Polychrome finishes. The slotted headstock and neck are built to exact 1928-1933 vintage specifications.
The Deluxe Islander have a plated cover plate which is identical to the 1929-1931 National single.cone plate.
Multiple pearled binding adorn this model, as well as an engraved pearled overlay on the trigone shaped solid headstock.
There were 312 Islanders made.
Of those 85 were Deluxes.
The first Islanders had the porpoises on the front around the coverplate. The first deluxes did not have the mop headstock overlay.
They were made in the first national-Reso factory... The garage of Don Youngs Mother. The pearloid binding is what made the first ones Deluxes.
The first one was made in 1989. Information was from Don Young.

This is the first guitar made by the new National Resophonic company. There were a total of 41 Islander Deluxes made between 1989-1992.
